Flash Advertising Selection
This is a collection of various animated flash banners and MPUs I have created. I've listed links to them below in no particular order, rather than write a detailed description for each project, although you can find more info for some further down the page.

Ghost Whisperer Tarot Customisation
CBS required a customised version of FlashLight Creative's popular interactive flash game The Tarot Oracle, as a viral promotion for the hit series The Ghost Whisperer. Rather than using the tarot symbols as in the original flash game's design, creative elements and characters from the show were used, in some instances with their associated sound-bytes. The flash game also contains a tip on how to access extras on the Ghost Whisperer Season 2 DVD. Try it now >>
Umbro 5s Promo
These flash animations were created to encourage sign up to The FA Umbro Fives tournament. The theme of the campaign was 'modern, edgy and fast' so the digital elements of animated web banners, MPUs and skyscrapers needed to reflect that feel. The creative concept was storyboarded first, using existing brand elements, before being finally animated in Flash CS5 and ActionScript 3.

Finger Lickin Records
Word of Mouth DJs wanted a retro cartoony feel to this promotion for a night of tunes from Finger Lickin Record's newly signed artists. This flash animation was created using stop frame animation of hand drawn figures. The old movie scratches effect was accomplished using ActionScript 2 in Flash CS3.View the animation now >>
Interactive Christmas Card
The FA wanted a digital interactive version of their paper Christmas Card. FlashLight Creative took the print version, which consisted of a Christmas tree made out of various photos and animated them falling into the shape of the tree with snow. After the tree assembles users can view a close up of each photo by clicking and dragging over the tree.
An envelope style HTML email created using PhotoShop and DreamWeaver was sent to their clients which then linked to the online animated flash card.
2018 Web Promo
These animations were created to promote the 2018 World Cup bid. The 2018 team required something exciting and eye catching for these digital banners, skyscrapers and MPUs.View MPU version >>

The Mind Reader
The Mind Reader was created while experimenting with math in Flash. I accidentally stumbled across a mind reading algorithm, which is used in this psychic movie... Well, why not see if you can work out how the magic really works. This version of the mind reader was a customisation for the CBS show Ghost Whisperer.
Tesco Skills Promotion
FlashLight was asked to produce interactive online advertising to promote the Tesco Skills website. The online ads appeared on a selection of kids websites such as Nick, Disney and Cartoon Network so they needed to be eyecatching and interactive, to stand out from the other busy content on the sites. A banner and skyscraper space had been allocated for the digital assets so I decided to create Flash animations that could interact with each other.
The top banner was animated with a ball rolling along to the right and after going out of view appears falling down into the right hand banner where the ball can be clicked on to play keepy-uppy. When the user successfully keeps the ball up for 8 clicks the game times out and encourages them to join the Skills website where they can play the full game online. This digital ad campaign was so successful on the Disney website that Disney offered The FA a month of free advertising (worth 2k).
The Caterpillar
This interactive flash animation for kids was inspired by the caterpillar character from Alice in Wonderland. Think of a question with a possible yes or no answer and the caterpillar will answer. Be warned, he can be a bit odd and cranky at times. This game was designed created in Flash CS3 using ActionScript 2.Online Tarot Reading

The Original Flash Mind Reader
The Original Flash Mind Reader was created while experimenting with math in Flash. We accidentally stumbled across a mind reading algorithm, which is used in this psychic movie... Well, why not see if you can work out how the magic really works. This is the original version of The Flash Mind Reader I created back in 2002 and was one of my first experiments delving into ActionScript.
Soon after uploading it to my (then small) server it 'went-viral' and crashed my site within days. At one point I was getting up to 500 emails a day asking how the Mind Reader worked or suggesting that I was spying on people through their computers. Aaah the early days of the internet...
Englandfans Promo for Wembley Giant Screen
Techniques: After Effects, Photoshop
This Englandfans promo graphic makes use of After Effect's 3D layers and cameras to create a cinematic effect. I used a narrow depth of field while zooming out to help achieve this.

Women's Football Awards Motion Graphics
Techniques: After Effects, Flash, Illustrator
The Women's Awards graphics had a paint splatter effect so I animated the image building up as if it was being painted on a wall. The final graphics were projected onto a wall during the Women's Football Awards.

Wembley Stadium Logo Animation
Techniques: After Effects, Photoshop
This Wembley Stadium Logo animation was created to bring alive the enhanced version of the Wembley Stadium logo and was used as a short sting between promo movies that are shown on TV screens around the Stadium.

The FA tv logo animation
Techniques: After Effects, Photoshop
This short animation of the FA tv logo is an intro sting. I used a cloud graphic rotated, transformed and duplicated on various 3D layers to give the effect of the logo emerging from the clouds.

Licensed Coaches Club
The FA Licensed Coache's Club website was created as a part of The FA's new kitemarking scheme, launching in August 2011.
I was asked to create an identity for the LCC website, as well as design the overall look and feel of the site based on wireframes. 30 page layouts were designed for various areas of the site such as coaching drills, forums, sign up process. All with an emphasis on usability.

Symon James - Singer Guitarist Songwriter
Symon James is a singer/songwriter who has performed professionally since the age of 17.
Symon's brief for the new site was: I like victorian theatres, clowns, toys, burlesque, 1920s fairgrounds… that kind of off the wall sort of thing.. I want the viewer to be clear I might be either a nutcase or a talented artist… either is fine with me.
He also wanted to be able to edit content, blog and upload his music. Also, the site had to be iPhone and iPad compatible.
After putting together a couple of mood boards Symon decided to go with a distressed, Victorian funfair feel. The site uses Wordpress so that he can easily blog and add his own content.
Facebook Customisation
This is an example of some facebook customisation graphics I worked on while at The Football Association. This shows detail of a graphic I did for the CEOPS (online Child Protection) section of the site. The brief was for something informal and fun that would get act as a link to further information about the scheme.
Octopus Food
Octopus Food Limited is a dynamic, passionate & creative catering company providing exceptional food & service to a diverse portfolio of customers in and around London. They approached FlashLight Creative requiring a website redesign.
After examining their site frontend and backend it quickly became apparent that their publishing method was very limited. Most pages were updated manually by a freelance web designer at a cost and they had no way of easily updating the site themselves with new menus, offers and news.
FlashLight redesigned their site to make it look more modern and dynamic, we also installed a content management system (CMS) that enabled them to login and easily edit and add articles online via a browser based admin system.
